Fr. Avery Daniel, a native of Atlanta, GA., is a priest of the Archdiocese of Atlanta where he currently serves as the parochial vicar of St. Benedict parish in Johns Creek. In August of this year, Archbishop Hartmayer also appointed Fr. Avery, a 2011 Eagle Scout, as the chaplain of the Atlanta Catholic Committee on Scouting. Father grew up in Pack/Troop 1996 and served as Troop Chaplain, Scribe, Quartermaster, Patrol Leader, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. For his project, he collected care packages for a Georgia National Guard battalion deployed in the mountains in Afghanistan and arranged the transport logistics with the Georgia Air National Guard. Fr. Avery previously served as the parochial vicar of St. Joseph in Athens and St. Catherine Laboure’ in Jefferson while simultaneously serving as the chaplain and theology teacher at Monsignor Donovan Catholic High School in Athens and the part-time chaplain of St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta. He also previously served as the chaplain of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell while serving as a priest-in-residence at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell. He is a 2011 graduate of St Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta. After attending Virginia Tech for one year, he entered formation for the priesthood and attended the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in Humanities and Philosophy. He then attended the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, where he earned the Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology magna cum laude and began the Licentiate in Sacred Theology specializing in seminary formation, spiritual theology, and psychology.
